Acklen Avenue Bath

Work is completed on this master bath update. We gave this space a facelift while using as many of the existing features as we could. The old shower was updated into a fantastic steam shower. The new frameless glass enclosure opens up the entire space, making it feel bigger.

Our tub area was updated with a new tiled surround and carrara tub deck. We dressed up the apron, replacing the old bead board with a more polished wood panel. We were able to reuse the old tub and plumbing fittings.

The floor was updated with the removal of the old dark accent tiles that dated the space. We also put some of the old floor tile to use in the shower floor, which served to unify the old and new elements.

Old lighting was replaced with recessed lights and recessed fans and the whole space dressed up with a new coat of paint and crown molding.

I think the outcome is really nice. Let me know what you think!

I teamed up with Bill, of Lawrence Brothers Construction, for another master bath remodel located in the Vanderbilt area. This 1930’s home has been previously remodeled but the master bath was in need of an update hastened by a leaky shower. We plan to use the existing marble floor, but will remove the decorative keys and replace with marble. Using the existing vanity and sconces, we will update the space with a new tiled steam shower and frameless glass enclosure. The tub surround will be tiled and the tile on the tub deck will be replaced with a carrara marble slab. A built in storage niche over the tub will make the space more functional and less cluttered. We are replacing the old bead board tub apron with a wood panel apron that will compliment the cabinetry. The whole room will get a fresh coat of paint, updated lighting and crown molding. My mission in designing this space was to seamlessly blend the existing elements with the new, while making the space more functional and fresh for this lovely family’s needs. Here is a look at the before shots and a sketch of the bath. This project is underway, so stay tuned to see pictures of the finished space!
